If a criminal charge of any kind is brought,
Then some kind of conviction must be caught.
For no matter how hard and just your battle is fought
Your time, your money and energy will probably be for naught!
We will have “A conviction at any cost!”
No D.A. wants to have to admit that he lost,
“Convict at any cost!”

No matter how much money they have to spend,
No matter how many of our laws they have to bend,
No matter how many innocent lives they have to end,
It’s only the rich and connected they have to fend and tend.
They will get “A conviction at any cost!”
The public will seldom vote for those who have lost,
“Convict at any cost!”

So when your guilt has finally been bought
And your whole life as it was is ended at that spot.
The true guilty party will probably never be sought.
While in prison you will rot as the judge jots the last dot.
They now have their “Conviction at any cost!”
All rules of honor, justice and common sense have been tossed,
“Convict at any cost!”

In dangerous and deadly dungeons you now have to blend.
If you don’t, your remains, to your home they will send.
You family’s very fabric and fiber will probably never mend.
Compassion, love, understanding, things the D.O.C. will never lend!
They did “Convict at any cost!”
My family, truth, justice—they’ve all been lost.

This unhealthy all out “Convict at any cost”
attitude that the American courts now have,
absolutely costs us way too much!
There is no justice at all, when you
